Art therapy is the combination of therapy and the expressiveness of the arts. Through art making, individuals are invited to express their feelings and give voice to their inner conflicts with the therapist as their support and guide. Various mediums and art materials are used depending on the client’s needs and desires. Art therapy is a useful healing tool for all ages, and can be effective for exploring many different experiences and burdens.

When we as humans experience the world, we don’t experience it merely in a verbalized form; words are useful, but by utilizing our full range of experiences, expression, and sensation in our path towards wholeness we open ourselves up to a vast inner landscape of healing and strength. Art therapy leaves room for the power of words and so much more by engaging all the senses and crafting an awareness around our experiences, bodily senses, and emotive feelings.
